Cleveland Browns WR target No. 2: Chris Godwin

If the Browns were to go out and get Chris Godwin, I think he would complement Donovan Peoples-Jones quite well. We have seen instances of what DPJ can do, but on a slightly bigger scale, we have seen Godwin flourish down in Tampa Bay.

Godwin is playing this season on the franchise tag, which was seemingly the only way Tampa Bay could bring him back after winning the Super Bowl a season ago and well, every other member of the roster. Godwin has been the Robin to Mike Evans’ Batman over the past few seasons, but don’t take that as a bad thing.

Everyone needs help and being Robin isn’t a bad option. When AB is healthy and on the field for the Bucs, Godwin is more like Alfred, who is still a piece to the puzzle, just a smaller piece.

In Cleveland, Godwin could become the Batman or remain the Robin to DPJ. Either way, the Browns would have two dynamic playmakers on the outside that could really propel this team to further heights.

The 25-year old has had a ton of success early on, including a 1,000-yard season back in 2019, the same year he was a Pro Bowler. He still has a ton of untapped potential and pairing him with Mayfield could prove to be a wise investment on Andrew Berry’s behalf.

Through eight games this year, Godwin already has 50 receptions, 660 yards, and four touchdowns, while also rushing in a score. He was a key contributor to a Super Bowl last season and in years to come, would be a Cleveland hero if he could replicate that in Orange and Brown.
