Cleveland Browns waive Andrew Billings after unceremonious tenure

The Cleveland Browns waived Andrew Billings on Saturday which ends his time with the team after appearing in just six games with the team
When the Cleveland Browns signed Andrew Billings before the 2020 season, it seemed as though they were about to shore up a position of need.
Cleveland had been using Larry Ogunjoni at the one-tech defensive tackle spot and while he was a talented player at the three-tech (and continues to be so with the Cincinnati Bengals), Ogunjobi was clearly out of position in this role.
Billings, however, had been highly effective for the Bengals, and pairing him with Sheldon Richardson seemed to be an upgrade. That never happened though as Billings sat out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns and Richardson was waived before Billings returned.
Still, there was some excitement to see what the former Baylor standout could bring to the Cleveland D-line this season. Sadly, the excitement waned quickly as Billings wound up making no impact throughout the first several weeks of the season.
He did finally record his first tackle in Week 5 while playing the Los Angeles Chargers but that proved to be the only statistic he recorded while wearing the orange and brown.
On Saturday, the Browns decided to move on as they waived the veteran defensive tackle.
Cleveland made a couple of other corresponding moves which should help the defense as they activated Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and M.J. Stewart off the IR.
With Billings out, the Browns will likely get Tommy Togiai on the field more as well as Sheldon Day who has played well when given a chance.
