Injury added to insult: Baker Mayfield hurt against Patriots
By Randy Gurzi
As if the 31-7 deficit wasn’t enough, the Cleveland Browns are now turning to Case Keenum as Baker Mayfield was injured after being hit on an incomplete pass
Throughout this season, Baker Mayfield has been battling one injury after another. He’s dealing with a partially torn shoulder labrum as well as a fracture in his shoulder.
Even with the injuries, the Cleveland Browns signal-caller keeps suiting up and has missed just one game this season. However, he now has another injury to deal with as he was hit by Matt Judon in the third quarter of their game against New England and had to leave the game.
Mayfield, who has been struggling throughout the day on Sunday, went down and appeared to have hurt his knee. He immediately hit the blue medical tent and Case Keenum came in to replace him.
Keenum’s start hasn’t been much better as he was sacked on back-to-back plays to turn the ball over on downs.
Cleveland is fresh off a huge win in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals and they were hoping to secure a second road win in a row against New England. Things started out fine as Mayfield and the Browns marched down the field to take a 7-0 lead.
Since then, things have fallen apart as New England has 31 unanswered points, building a 31-7 lead before Mayfield went down.
Cleveland plays against Detroit next week and even with the Lions struggling all season, the Browns have a lot to clean up if they want to get back above 500.
