5 Bold predictions as the Cleveland Browns host the Detroit Lions

The weather on Sunday, when the Cleveland Browns play the Detroit Lions down along the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland, is calling for a wonderful 45 degrees, breezy and rain. Not your ideal conditions, but definitely a time for some bold predictions. In a game where the Lions will be desperate for their first win of the season and the Browns will be desperate for a win to stay in the playoff picture, i believe anything and everything could happen.

When I think about these predictions I usually try and find some unusual or off the cuff situations that are more “out of the box” thoughts. Often times, I can’t help but think of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield when I think of the bold word.

Mayfield could be the poster child for that word in the dictionary. According to that definition, to be bold implies a willingness to get things done despite risks. Considering Mayfield is a hot mess with injuries that bold meaning suits Mayfield well. I believe his whole body is injured, and yet he’s still planning on starting the game against Detroit and taking some big risks.

Starting or not, Mayfield and his teammates need to show up in the cold rainy and windy conditions and play like it was their last game of their career.

It’s been disappointing that head coach Kevin Stefanski got away from preaching the one game at a time approach with his team. Maybe he still is, but we certainly haven’t heard those types of comments coming from his players and coaches like we did a year ago. When you win, communication and sugarcoating a situation is much easier than what this Cleveland team is facing now with its season long roller coaster.

The messages coming out of Berea this week are that the team has had a good week of refocused practice and are ready for the final seven games of the regular season. The road ahead for this team, on paper looks very tough. After their game against the Lions, the Browns head to play division rival Baltimore Ravens before the team can get their long-awaited bye week.

So with that lets dive into some bold predictions that probably involve Baker Mayfield. Who would have guessed?
