Browns and Lions game will be a shootout

What? You think the game could be a shootout where both teams score a lot? Even, though the weather elements suggest a grind it out kind of game.

Yes, I do and I suggest this possibility based on the Browns track record this year with their final scores and the Browns suspect and very inconsistent defense having a big factor in this prediction.

If you go back through the season, one will see that Cleveland started the season with a couple of games where the defense allowed a lot of points. Then the team’s defense found themselves again and started stifling teams like the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.

However, Cleveland decided to forget how to play defense in their following two games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Browns defense started pinning opponents down again in its Thursday night win at home against the Denver Broncos. But now the team just came off a shellacking by the Patriots where they gave up 45 points.

If the pattern continues, we’re in for a barn burner Sunday. It might be raining but the field might be a blaze. I’m hoping we score 46 and Detroit scores 45. Too much?

Nick Chubb and D’Ernest Johnson will go over 100 yards rushing

Since, I’ve boldly predicted this game will be shootout, let’s boldly go where know one has gone and say that both Browns running backs will bolt for a 100 yards plus. Nick Chubb has 721 yards on the season in only seven games.

He’s gone over 100 yards three times this season. He’s been out due to Covid but has returned this week to practice and will be in good shape and be ready to rumble by the Lion defense multiple times.

Johnson, as well has been outstanding in his brief moments to shine this year with the rash of injuries and Covid to the running back room. In the two games that he was the feature back he cracked 100 yards and got 146 yards and a touchdown run against the Denver Broncos.

Then last week, he started the game against the Patriots going for 58 yards on four carries. He ended up with 99 yards on 19 carries. This could be a game that Johnson could be that second back behind Chubb that goes off for big plays and yardage.
