Cleveland Browns: Prediction for remaining 2021 games
By Greg Newland
Week 17 – Cleveland Browns at Steelers
This is the game I have been waiting for since losing the last one. Baker Mayfield honestly played a fantastic first game vs. the Steelers, but his receivers really let him down with drops and fumbles, especially late in the game.
The defense was also great, but a fourth-down, acrobatic catch in the endzone from Ben Roethlisberger was just enough for the Steelers to steal a victory in Cleveland.
The Steelers are by no means a bad team, but the Cleveland Browns are by far the superior team and I think they go into this game with nothing but revenge on their mind. I expect Myles Garrett and Chubb to both explode in this game, and the Browns find a way to win a tough game on the road.
At 10-6, there is a great chance that the final game of the year vs. the Bengals will be for a divisional title.
Browns 28, Steelers 27
Week 18 – vs. Cincinnati
To this point, the Browns best performance of the year came in Cincinnati when the defense was lights out and the offense couldn’t be stopped. If things go as planned, I believe this game very well could be winner takes all in the AFC North.
You better believe Cleveland Stadium will be a huge advantage for this one, and that stadium will be electric.
I think Mayfield struggles early in this game because of the nerves, but eventually comes out of his shell and has a great game. Joe Burrow is the future of the NFL, but pressure from Garrett and cast will have his internal clock moving faster than desired.
There is nothing wrong with 11-6, and certainly no better time to be playing your best football than the end of the season. Not only will the Browns recover from this slump, but they also find a way to win the AFC North.
Browns 34, Bengals 24
Browns finish 11-6
