3 Cleveland Browns with plummeting stock after Week 12 loss
Cleveland Browns with plummeting stock No. 1: Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones
Coming into the 2021 season, many had high hopes for second-year receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. Following the release of Odell Beckham Jr. this season, those hopes and expectations only grew for the young wideout. Thus far, however, DPJ has yet to break out and be the playmaker many expected him to be in an offense that desperately needs one.
Sunday night was another rough night for DPJ, as he struggled to connect early with his quarterback on the first drive of the game, dropping one pass and not turning back on another that probably could have been caught and set up a first-and-goal situation.
Peoples-Jones finished the night with two catches for 10 yards against the Ravens, but the three passes thrown his way that he didn’t catch could have, and probably should have, been caught. Despite his struggles on Sunday and throughout the season, as one of the few offensive playmakers on the outside that the Browns have on their roster, DPJ will continue to see the field and get opportunities to finally breakout.
The Browns can’t afford to do anything with Donovan Peoples-Jones but keep putting him out there and putting him in positions to make plays.
Until they get a truly game-changing playmaker at the receiver position in the 2022 offseason, he remains one of their best options for success at wide receiver.
