A 7-round Cleveland Browns mock draft heading into the bye week

The 2021 NFL season was supposed to be one to remember for the Cleveland Browns, but 12 games in, the team is 6-6 and on the outside looking in at the AFC Playoff Picture.

The rebuilt defense has been inconsistent, and the offense has been a major disappointment, injuries notwithstanding.

With that said, here is a seven-round 2022 mock draft, because unfortunately, this team has a lot of holes to fill, and some major issues that will prevent them from making a lot of noise for the rest of this season.

1.28. player. 829. Scouting Report. Alabama. JamesonWilliams. Pick Analysis. WR

TRADE: CLE sends 1.18 to TB for 1.28 and 2.60

The Browns need wide receiver help badly. Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz are the only members of the room who are likely to return, and the group as currently composed is struggling mightily to create separation and help Baker Mayfield at all. Fortunately, like most years, 2022 boasts a good class of pass-catchers.

Williams spent two years buried on the depth chart at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama and dominating, hauling in 61 passes for 1,261 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has good size and quicks, and creates space easily with a sudden running style.

Adding a big-play threat to the Browns offense would do wonders to open things up. There are plenty of WRs to choose from this year, but Williams seems like the kind of player the Browns would target and that Mayfield would enjoy throwing to.
