Cleveland Browns QB option No. 1 – Mitchell Trubisky

A guy that just needs a fresh start is Mitchell Trubisky. Again, I’m not saying he’s an elite NFL quarterback, but the Chicago Bears are a dumpster fire on offense, and completely broke the 2017 No. 2 overall pick.

Broke is also a tough term to use, he was 11-3 as the starter in 2018 and 8-7 in 2019, and that’s with an extremely bad offense. While a guy like Mariota has played enough football to know what you’re going to get, I would argue someone may find themselves a solid starting quarterback when they sign Trubisky for the 2022 season.

Why shouldn’t it be the Cleveland Browns? With Mayfield on his fifth-year option, if they got rid of Keenum, the money shouldn’t be an issue. Not only would Trubisky push Mayfield and challenge him, but he could also be the long-term solution.

Once again, Trubisky is the perfect fit for the Browns system. He isn’t a guy who can line up in the shotgun and throw the ball 50 times a game and expect him to be successful. But with a good offensive line, strong running game, and threat of play-action, he can do a lot of great things.

Like Mariota, Trubisky is a fantastic athlete who can use his feet as a weapon as well as his arm. Trubisky has very similar stats to Mariota and Mayfield but was never in a system that gave him near the opportunities he would have with the Cleveland Browns.

We also can’t forget, Trubisky was born in Northeast Ohio which could lure him in even more.
