Player No. 4 for Cleveland Browns to re-sign: Anthony Walker

This one might come as a surprise, but just hear me out.

Anthony Walker came to the Browns from the Colts in free agency as he wanted to play for a Super Bowl contending team. He saw Cleveland as the perfect destination for that. While the goal is still ahead of this squad, there is a lot of work needed to be done for the remainder of the season.

The season has been up and down for the team and for Walker, but despite that, he is worth the price Andrew Berry paid for his services. Walker signed a one-year deal worth $3 million. That seems like a head-scratcher, but that’s what the two parties decided to agree on.

For as shaky as his play has appeared over the season, Walker leads the team in total combined tackles with 85 and solo tackles with 57 and that’s even missing three games. He has double-digit tackles in four of the nine games he’s appeared in.

Along with the tackles, he has a sack, two tackles for loss, two pass deflections, and has been on the field for 87 percent of the defensive snaps.

This is more like a “prove it” year for Walker and the Browns. The great thing is, if Berry decides to bring him back in 2022 and beyond, Walker is only 26-years old and won’t turn 27 until next August. If he continues to play as he has, then it will be a no-brainer for him to be re-signed. He is also someone the younger guys like Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Mack Wilson can learn from.
