Dud No. 1 – Demetric Felton

I don’t know who I should be more upset with, Demetric Felton or the coaches for his play on special teams on Sunday. It’s a bit harsh to make him the number one dud, but I’m trying to stay positive with the rest of the team because they at least go the win.

The first two punt returns today were fumbled by Felton before he was replaced by JoJo Natson. Felton did not lose either of the fumbles, but why has this guy continued to be put back there as the returner?

He’s an elusive guy, but he has yet to learn that he is never going to outrun an entire special teams unit in the NFL. After a few good returns at the beginning of the season, he has bobbled a ton of catches and only finds himself running backward.

In a situation where Natson was active, Felton should not see the field on special teams the rest of the year as a returner. And if Natson isn’t available, Donovan Peoples-Jones is still a better option.

Let’s not forget, the play of the day may have been by Natson when he stepped out of bounds before touching a kickoff that died near the three-yard line. Because he was out of bounds, it was a penalty and the Browns got the ball at the 40-yard line, a 37-yard change of scenery.
