Position No. 3 – Offensive Tackle

To start the season, the Cleveland Browns had Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin slated as the starters with Blake Hance and Chris Hubbard as the backups. Not only did the Browns have two outstanding starting tackles, but the backups were also great as well.

Now we are at a point where Conklin and Hubbard are out for the season, and Wills has continued to struggle at left tackle. Hance has been okay, but he isn’t a true tackle and still struggles to stop the speed rush.

Rookie third-round pick, James Hudson, looked much better last week as he got his chance at right tackle, but he is still a raw talent that needs a lot of fine-tuning.

I’m not saying Wills and Conklin won’t or shouldn’t be the starters in 2022, but Hubbard has had two season-ending injuries that last two years, and Hance just isn’t a tackle. The Browns don’t need to sign a top free-agent tackle, but they need to find some depth.

Berry may choose a lower-level free agency, but I would be in the camp of finding another third or fourth-round guy in the 2022 NFL Draft. Someone with a high ceiling but won’t be forced into action early and should have time to develop in practice.
