Cleveland Browns Quarterback option No. 3: Brock Purdy, Iowa State

An interesting guy who had a better draft stock two years ago vs. now is Brock Purdy from Iowa State.  Purdy is a fierce competitor who just found a way to get things done, especially in good games.

I see Purdy as more of a day three guy currently. He has struggled with accuracy and didn’t have near the senior season that some expected, but most of his flaws are all coachable things.

Purdy could be the perfect fit for the Kevin Stefanski offense. He’s athletic enough to move around the pocket and get yards when he needs to and has a strong enough arm to zip in a 10-yard out route across the hashes.

He will have to improve his pocket presence as he often created his own pressure by trying to escape early, and he will also need to improve his mid and deep-ball accuracy. His ability to make plays while navigating the pocket will keep teams interested in his potential.

Purdy is a guy who will need time to develop. There’s no chance he would be ready to start an NFL game in 2022 but could be a very interesting project that at least turns into a valuable backup quarterback on the roster.

He doesn’t fit every offense, but I think he could be successful for the Cleveland Browns in time.
