Cleveland Browns Cap Casualty No. 1 – Jarvis Landry

I know there are a ton of people who will be disappointed to see Jarvis Landry no longer a part of the Cleveland Browns organization, but I don’t see how the relationship continues after this season.

Not only have the Browns wide receivers been extremely disappointing, but Landry will also have a cap hit of $16.6 million in 2022, making him one of the top-12 highest-paid receivers in the league next season.

He has been important to the rebuild in Cleveland, and I’ll even give him credit for helping to change the culture from losing to winning, but the guy has just over 450 receiving yards and one touchdown on the season. You just can’t justify that much money for one player that isn’t producing.

With the Odell Beckham era being a complete bust, look for Berry to completely wipe out the wide receiver room. Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz will likely be the only two left standing as there is a complete rebuild in 2022.

Think of it this way, the cost of keeping Clowney will likely be $16-18 million. Would you rather keep Landry or Clowney?

If you answer anything other than Clowney, you have not been watching this team in 2021.
