6 Free agent wide receivers Cleveland Browns should target in 2022
By John Suchan
Cleveland Browns WR target: Allen Lazard
Allen Lazard is currently a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers. He had a decent game against the Browns a few weeks ago when the two teams played. He caught a touchdown pass in the contest as well.
He was undrafted back in 2018 by the Jacksonville Jaguars but was picked up by the Packers in the middle of that season and placed on their practice squad. He’s had some solid seasons since with the Packers. He’s been consistent in catching 33 to 35 passes. He’s also caught six touchdowns this year. He is a restricted free agent this offseason.
That means that other teams, like the Browns, could make a contract offer and the Packers could then match the offer. He is only making $850,000 this season. He would demand more in the free-agent market but wouldn’t be so costly to a team like Cleveland if they were looking to find a replacement at the wide receiver position
Cleveland Browns WR target: KhaDarel Hodge
The former Cleveland Brown is currently playing with the Detroit Lions. He signed with them after the Browns released him right before the start of the season. He’s currently on a $1 million contract. Would his former team be interested in bringing him back?
He’s played sporadically this season. His best output was just this past weekend when he caught five passes for 76 yards in a game against the Seattle Seahawks. The price tag would be very minimal again.
Cleveland Browns WR target: Byron Pringle
The current Kansas City Chief has had a very respectable season. He has contributed to the Chiefs game plan nicely this year. He’s caught 37 passes for 512 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also been receiving kickoffs.
This season he’s brought back 25 kicks for a solid 24.8 yards on the return. If the Browns are looking for a player that could help the team out in more than one department, Pringle is an intriguing player to consider.
His contract this season is at 2.1 million. He’d likely ask for more in free agency. Even so, the Browns wouldn’t be breaking the bank.
