A rough season is in the books as the Cleveland Browns wrapped up their 2021 campaign with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. They finished 8-9 which is far from what they were expecting, but the good news is they still have a lot of talent on their roster.

That means they should have hope that they can bounce back in 2022. Helping them in that endeavor will be the fact that they landed in the top-15 in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

Following their win, Cleveland wound up with the 13th overall pick, which will surely be used to fix their struggling offense.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

2022 NFL Draft order: Browns slated to pick 13th after beating Bengals — Dan Kadar, Akron Beacon Journal

"“The best salve for fans disappointed by the Browns this season is looking ahead to next season. That means getting ready for the 2022 NFL Draft.”"

General manager Andrew Berry has proven that he knows how to navigate the NFL Draft. He’s done a great job adding talent to the roster in each of the past two classes and will now have the No. 13 pick to work with. Chances are high that he uses that on a wide receiver with Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jameson Williams all appearing to be excellent fits in Cleveland.

With Baker Mayfield set to start for the Browns again in 2022, they must fix the rest of the passing game around him: Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“With the Browns prepared to move forward with Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback for 2022, as sources have told cleveland.com, they have plenty of work to do around him to get this 26th-ranked passing game up to speed.”"

Mary Kay is spot on that the Browns need to fix things around Baker Mayfield. While he isn’t blameless in their struggles, he also had very little help. Cleveland absolutely has to get better at wide receiver and they also have to figure out how to limit the hits Mayfield took this season.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski says quarterback Baker Mayfield left their exit meeting on positive note — Nate Ulrich, Akron Beacon Journal

"“Oh, yeah. Yes. Yeah. He’s looking forward and I’m looking forward for him to go get the surgery, rest up, get healthy all those things,” Stefanski said during his postgame news conference."

There were reports of friction behind the scenes which were denied by Mayfield and now Stefanksi says the two had a good exit meeting. As is usually the case, most problems are solved by winning so getting Mayfield healthy and back on track is the best first step for this team.
