4 cheap wide receiver options the Cleveland Browns could target
Cleveland Browns Cheap Wide Receiver Option No. 2: Christian Kirk
Christian Kirk has had a stellar 2021 campaign helping lead the Arizona Cardinals to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
Kirk is everything the Browns need in a receiver, minus the size. He stands at 5-foot-11, but his ability to get open and make big play after big play makes up for that.
For the season, Kirk has caught 77 passes for 982 yards and five touchdowns. Look back to the Browns numbers from wide receivers in the previous slide and then come back to look at this. He nearly outgained Cleveland’s top two receivers in yardage.
In the previous three seasons, Kirk has racked up 1,920 yards on 159 receptions and 12 touchdowns. So, to say he is progressing nicely in the NFL is an understatement. Kirk could very well be one of the key focuses of Andrew Berry this offseason, and he won’t demand a gigantic salary.
Arizona drafted Kirk in the second round in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M, where he was sensational. He put up at least 900 yards and seven touchdowns in all three of his collegiate seasons, including over 1,000 yards as a freshman.
It very well could be quite difficult for Berry and the Browns to convince Kirk to leave his home state of Arizona and come to cold and dreary Cleveland. But money talks, so maybe Kirk will be persuaded this way.
Kirk has surely benefitted from playing alongside and sharing a locker room with the likes of veteran pass-catchers DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, and Zach Ertz, which he can bring that tutelage to the Browns wide receiver room.
