Browns 2022 draft Round 2: Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota

Cleveland’s offensive line took a step in the wrong direction during the 2021 season and a large part of that was due to injuries. Jed Wills suffered an ankle injury early in the year and never quite looked right after that.

Jack Conkiln was also hurt, although his injury was much more significant as he tore his patellar tendon. With that happening so late in the season, he might not be 100 percent by the time 2022 begins — and he’s also entering the final year of his contract that he signed in 2020.

For those reasons, Cleveland grabs Daniel Faalele out of Minnesota with their second-round pick. A massive prospect at 6-foot-8 and 380-pounds, Faalele could serve as a swing tackle during his rookie season if Conklin returns but could also take over for him if he does miss time. Either way, he could be the answer at right tackle for the Browns beyond the 2022 campaign.

Browns 2022 draft Round 3: Zachary Carter, DL, Florida

Jadeveon Clowney did a great job on the edge for Cleveland in 2022 but he’s a free agent. If he ends up leaving, the Browns might need another defensive end — and Zachary Carter can provide that.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 285-pounds he can set the edge in the run game the way Clowney did and proved he can get after the quarterback with 7.5 sacks this season. He’s also big enough to slide inside on passing downs as a 3-tech.
