Browns 2022 draft: Early 7-round mock to clean up offense

Browns 2022 draft Round 5: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
Back to the defensive line, the Browns pick up Keeanu Benton from Wisconsin with their fifth-round pick. Cleveland had hoped Andrew Billings would solve their 1-tech issues but that ended up not being the case.
After sitting out the 2020 season, Billings wasn’t effective at all for the Browns and was released after appearing in just six games and recording only one tackle. Benton is a load at 6-foot-4 and 317-pounds and provided 24 tackles, five for a loss, and 2.5 sacks in his junior season.
Browns 2022 draft Round 6: James Empey, IOL, BYU
There’s a real chance that J.C. Tretter could end up being released in a cost-savings move, especially after Nick Harris performed well in his lone start this season. Should Harris become the starter, there needs to be a new backup which is where James Empey comes in.
Browns 2022 draft Round 7: Matt Hankins, CB, Iowa
Cleveland is still deep at cornerback with Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, Greedy Williams, and Troy Hill all playing very well. There’s also A.J. Green who took a major step forward at the end of the season.
The problem is, they continually had to deal with injuries at the position. That’s why it makes sense to add some depth with their final pick in this mock. Matt Hankins from Iowa is who they select as they add a 6-foot, 185-pounder who ended up playing five seasons with the Hawkeyes.
His experience should serve him well as he fights for a roster spot.
