Things didn’t go as planned in 2021 but the Cleveland Browns still have a strong roster and we should be fired up to see these 5 players in 2022

Unfortunately, the Cleveland Browns aren’t a part of the NFL Playoffs following the 2021 NFL Season as they finished with a record of 8-9. There were several issues throughout the season that led to the losing record, which included a number of injuries.

None were more high-profile than the ones suffered by quarterback Baker Mayfield. His shoulder injuries as well as a knee and heel issue kept him from playing to his potential.

While the problems took up a lot of the discussion throughout the season, there were some players who made their mark this year. Here, we look at five such players that fans should be fired up to see take their next step in 2022.

5. Cleveland Browns LB, Jacob Phillips

A third-round pick in 2020, Jacob Phillips has, unfortunately, had two injury-shortened seasons to start his career. He played in just nine games as a rookie with 25 tackles. In 2021, he wasn’t expected to suit up at all after suffering a torn biceps.

He defied the odds though and was back by Week 14 and played in four games. He ended up playing sparingly in the first three games but then saw 85 percent of the defensive snaps in Week 17.

Phillips was all over the field in that game as well with nine tackles, two going for a loss, and one sack. Should he be able to finally get healthy in 2022, the sky will be the limit for this young man from LSU.
