When the 202 NFL Draft ended without A.J. Green from Oklahoma State being selected, a bidding war began. Cleveland ended up luring him to their roster with a $145,000 guarantee being put in his contract.

Green still spent much of his rookie campaign on the team’s practice squad and he ended up playing in just two games while recording no stats. This season, however, things were different.

With injuries again causing the Browns to go deep at cornerback, Green made his way to the active roster for 12 games and was even credited with one start. The more the season went on, the more time he earned and Green ended up playing 99 snaps over the final two weeks of the season.

In Week 16, he recorded his first career pick and had three pass defenses over those final two games. On the year, he had21 tackles, five pass defenses, an interception, and two fumble recoveries.

Looking ahead to 2022, there’s no reason to think he won’t continue to get snaps with this team as he has clearly earned the trust of the Cleveland coaching staff. While he showed off his talent during his collegiate days, Browns fans are now seeing why the front office gave him such a hefty bonus.
