The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know including the story of an unnamed NFL executive saying Baker Mayfield could be traded

General manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski are both saying the same thing — Baker Mayfield will be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback in 2022.

Despite their claims, speculation has been running wild all offseason after Mayfield struggled for much of the 2021 campaign and Cleveland missed the playoffs. While their words of affirmation for Mayfield silenced some of the whispers, they may have started again.

On Tuesday, a report surfaced that an anonymous NFL executive still believes the Browns could trade Mayfield and that many teams believe he could be better in their system.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Anonymous exec believes Baker Mayfield will be traded by Browns — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“The idea that Mayfield is not a great fit in Kevin Stefanski’s offense is not new. He won the Heisman in a shotgun-oriented offense that allowed him to play a point guard role. Stefanski’s offense is a precision and timing offense with the quarterback going through designed reads.”"

Mayfield did play in a little more of an up-tempo offense with Freddie Kitchens which will lead to many scoffing at this theory but the Kitchens Air-Raid was just a mess. There could be some truth to Mayfield being a better fit elsewhere. Having said that, he also showed in 2020 he could succeed with Stefanski. Only time will tell who is correct in this one.

Multiple Cleveland Browns players praise Odell Beckham Jr.’s performance in Rams’ playoff win — Ben Axelrod, WKYC

"“When Odell Beckham Jr. effectively forced his way off the team last November, one might have assumed that he burned a lot of bridges in the Cleveland Browns’ locker room. But if the reaction to his performance in the Los Angeles Rams’ Wild Card round win over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night was any indication, that doesn’t appear to be the case.”"

Odell Beckham, Jr. has always been a very liked personality in the NFL. Well, outside of Josh Norman that is.

Players often gravitate towards him and it was apparent that even though things didn’t work out in Cleveland, he still had a lot of friends in the locker room. That was on full display with various members of Cleveland’s roster tweeting out their support for their former teammate.

OBJ and the Rams knocked off the Arizona Cardinals and will now take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.
