Cleveland Browns DT target: Maliek Collins

Maliek Collins, the former Nebraska Cornhusker was drafted originally by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016. He’s never had over-the-top seasons, but he’s been a consistent starter for most of his career. This past year he played for the Houston Texans and he finished with 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He even picked up the first interception of his career. In his game against the Browns this past season he recorded one tackle for a loss.

His most recent contract was a one-year $5 million deal with the Texans. The previous season he signed a one-year $6 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. He’s still very young at only 26 years old and will likely want a big payout on his next contract. Certainly, there will be a few teams that will offer a lot. The Browns may have interest in Collins, but the price will have to be right.

Cleveland Browns DT target: Quinton Jefferson

Quinton Jefferson was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016. He most recently played for the Las Vegas Raiders and had a good year. He recorded 47 tackles including 4.5 sacks. He was able to get to the quarterback which he’s been able to do most of his career. He’s recorded 15 sacks over that time.

He had signed a one-year deal with the Raiders for $3.25 million this past year after having been released by the Buffalo Bills last spring.

Jefferson played a big role in helping get the Raiders into the playoffs this season. Their defense was much better overall as they were in the middle of most defensive team rankings and were better at shutting down the run.

Jefferson might be a more reasonably priced free agent that the Browns could go after when the market opens in March.
