Last offseason, when Odell Beckham Jr and Von Miller were rehabbing together, Beckham Jr told Miller, “Don’t come to Cleveland.”

Prior to the start of the 2021 NFL season, it seems as if Odell BeckhamJr. already knew that Cleveland was not going to work out for him.

While rehabbing a torn ACL, Beckham was working with former Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller and the two discussed playing together.

However, OBJ advised him not to do so with the Cleveland Browns. Miller recalled a conversation with the two where he was told point-blank “Don’t come to Cleveland.”

"“The pair had been rehabbing their respective injuries that threw their football futures in question, Miller with his dislocated patella tendon and Beckham Jr. with his ACL. The two were training in Colorado Springs when the conversation happened, foreshadowing Beckham Jr.’s true feelings about the franchise that would inevitably become very public months later.” – Madeline Coleman, Sports Illustrated"

Beckham was released by the Browns just after the NFL’s trade deadline in early November. This was stemmed by Odell Beckham Sr. posting an 11-minute video on his social media of times his son was open but quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t throw him the ball.

After OBJ was granted his release from Cleveland, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams which was just days after Miller was traded to LA from Denver. This was a recruitment mission successful for Von — and they made sure not to team up in Cleveland as OBJ desired.

Odell Beckham thriving with Rams

Since joining the Rams, Beckham has tallied an outstanding six touchdowns in 10 games and is competing for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. In OBJ’s 29 games as a Brown, he scored only seven times.

If it was ever in question, Beckham still has it and is showing that in LA. It is obvious that something just wasn’t right in Cleveland and now OBJ is showing what he can do.

It’s too bad that it never worked in Cleveland because the Browns are in desperate need of an elite playmaker on the outside, something everyone wished he would be for the Browns.
