Cleveland Browns replacement No. 1: Emmanuel Ogbah

Our final prospective replacement for Jadeveon Clowney is a player with who Cleveland fans are very familiar with. Emmanuel Ogbah was taken 32nd overall in 2016 but since the New England Patriots were stripped of a draft pick in Round 1 that season, Ogbah was actually the first pick in the second round.

He then spent the next three seasons with the Browns and was a full-time starter from the day he put on the orange and brown uniform. In 40 games with Cleveland, Ogbah had a respectable stat line that consisted of 122 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 17 pass breakups — as he proved to be great at batting the ball down at the line of scrimmage.

Ogbah didn’t get to finish out his rookie deal with the Browns, however, as former general manager John Dorsey made an unwise trade ahead of the 2019 campaign. After adding Olivier Vernon ‚— who had a long history of injuries — Dorsey decided depth was a bad thing and shipped Ogbah off to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 10 games, he had 32 tackles and 5.5 sacks before suffering a season-ending injury himself. He still managed to win a Super Bowl ring and then earned a contract with the Miami Dolphins. Over the past two seasons in South Beach, Ogbah had 83 tackles and 18 sacks and is now set for free agency.

Andrew Berry should write the wrong of his predecessor and bring Ogbah back, pairing him with Myles Garrett once again. Doing so would keep the line strong as Cleveland looks to get back in the AFC North race.
