Vikings Trade Target No. 3 for Cleveland Browns – Harrison Smith

One name that could surprise you as being “available” is the former all-pro safety, Harrison Smith. Smith has been in the league for 10 years now but had his most tackles as a pro in the 2021 season where he was elected to the pro-bowl.

Some may ask, is Smith available if he’s that good?  Two things to remember.  One, the Vikings head into the season $15.6 million in the whole on cap space. Second, Smith is eating up $13.4 million of that in 2022 and has cap hits of $17 million-plus the next three years.

With a new general manager and a new head coach, Smith is a guy they would love to move on from if possible. The team can’t afford to cut him in 2022 because he still has $7.6 million of dead cap hit, but if they don’t move on from him now, he’s a for sure cut before the 2023 season.

Don’t be shocked to see Adofo-Mensah try and make a name for himself quickly and at least get something back for the high-profile safety. A late pick and middle-of-the-road player may be all it takes.

Smith would be a great fit in Cleveland, and he could thrive in the Joe Woods dime scheme. You would see him play as more of a linebacker and covering running backs and tight ends. Smith is known as a bruiser and could be exactly that for the Browns.
