Cleveland Browns Terrible Free Agency Signing No. 5 – Jake Delhomme

After many failed attempts at finding a quarterback via free agency and the draft, the Cleveland Browns turned to the veteran, Jake Delhomme in the 2010 season. The organization brought him in one a two-year $7 million contract, of which he never earned a cent.

In one season with the team, Delhomme managed to make four starts before being pulled and Colt McCoy/Seneca Wallace finished the season. If you remember, Delhomme’s first pass as a Browns was a pick-six vs. the Buccaneers in a game they lost 14-7.

The most disappointing thing about the 2010 season was how good the defense was at times. Guys like T.J. Ward, Ahtyba Rubin, and Joe Haden were all playing at a very high level and gave the Browns a chance to win a lot of games.

The organization took a chance on getting the 2008 Delhomme that led the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl, but instead go the 2009 version who went 4-7 as the starter with eight touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

Delhomme would last just one season with the Browns going 2-2 with seven interceptions to his two touchdowns. He’s the perfect example of why guys don’t want to give up on Baker Mayfield just yet, we remember how bad it can be.
