Cleveland Browns Terrible Free Agency Signing No. 2 – Kenny Britt

Even after all the trouble, that Kenny Britt caused with the Tennessee Titans (including multiple altercations with the police), the Cleveland Browns still thought a contract was a good high idea. The guy was a wreck mentally but showed a ton of potential on the field that could not be overlooked.

After five seasons with the Titans, he would move to the Rams where in his third season with the team he had the best year of his career with 1,002 receiving yards on 68 catches and five touchdowns. Not insane numbers, but enough to get the attention of a bad team.

Britt signed a four-year, $32.5 million contract during the 2017 offseason with the Browns where he struggled. No one should have been surprised a guy with so many issues struggled on a team that would eventually not win a game.

In just four starts and nine games played, Britt had 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns for the Browns before being cut by the Browns in December. He would land in New England and play just three games and have two receptions before his NFL career was over.

That’s right, Britt went from over 1,000 yards receiving in 2016, playing for the Browns in 2017, and out of the league in 2018. He caused his own problems, but it’s hard to think the Browns didn’t break him slightly.
