Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Trade Target No. 3 – Brandin Cooks

One guy you can’t help but look at and feel sorry for is Brandin Cooks. The guy has been traded around the league and does nothing but put up great numbers. In eight years, he has played for six different teams and had six 1,000 yard receiving seasons.

I compare him to a guy like Jamal Crawford in the NBA. A great sixth man always finds himself on a great team because he contributes, but at the end of the day is a resource that teams are willing to part with because they aren’t truly elite.

With the Houston Texans looking at another complete rebuild, don’t be shocked to see Cooks dealt once again. He has one year left on his deal with a $16.2 million cap hit and two voided years after with $7.5 million on the books.

The contract isn’t the friendliest, but for 2022 you could get a guy like Cooks for less money than you’re paying Landry. The NFL is wild right?

Cooks has shown he can produce on good and bad teams. The Cleveland Browns could give up a second-round pick and maybe another player and then work to extend Cooks at a reasonable price.

He certainly will demand good money, but it could be substantial savings compared to signing a free agent. Plus, he may be thrilled to come to a team that has a chance to compete.
