Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Trade Target No. 2 – D.K. Metcalf

It feels weird that a guy like D.K. Metcalf is in trade talks, but it appears certain major changes are coming to Seattle. And with the talented wide receiver on the final year of his rookie deal, the Seahawks may try and get something for him before he walks at the end of the season or the team can’t afford him.

Metcalf has proven he can make big plays, and he is also a huge target at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. However, we can’t overlook he has only had one 1,000 yard plus season, and he is a straight-line runner and isn’t what I would call an elite route runner. We do know that speed helps overcome this, which he has plenty of.

This one would come down to cost. I don’t see a team willing to give up a first-round pick for a guy with one year left on his deal. But, it is a free trial to see how he fits in the system and see if he is worth the big money extension he will likely be asking for.

If the Cleveland Browns could get him for a second and third or even two second-round picks, it would be worth looking into. A deep threat like Metcalf paired with an elite route runner (maybe Garrett Wilson) that could be drafted in round one of the 2022 draft could really make this receiver room interesting in 2022.

I do worry a desperate team will be willing to give up a first-round pick for the one-year trial.  Berry shouldn’t and likely wouldn’t be willing to do this.
