Cleveland Browns Potential Decimated Position No. 3 – Safety

One position where the Cleveland Browns had a good amount of depth the last few years is safety. It’s also a position where they have faced a ton of injuries.

And while the team will still have John Johnson and Grant Delpit on the roster in 2022, there is likely going to be a big hole at the third safety position which gets a lot of snaps in the Joe Woods scheme.

Ronnie Harrison was a shining star in 2020, on a defense that just wasn’t very good. But now out of his rookie contract, and a few boneheaded plays in 2021, I don’t see the Browns bringing him back. Maybe if the price was right, but I see him getting a lot of interest in the open market.

M.J. Stewart is another guy that played well at the end of the year but is also out of contract. I would have loved to see him come back, but he all but said goodbye already on an Instagram post thanking the organization.

I don’t see Andrew Berry wanting to spend big on the position in free agency, but the Browns will be in need of a guy who can contribute throughout the 2022 season. I expect the Browns to draft a safety in the earlier rounds (two or three) and could go to the value bin of free agency if a guy starts to slide.
