There is a lot of debate going on about Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Here are 3 reasons he could succeed and 3 reasons he could fail with the Browns.

Quarterback is the most important position in football, if you don’t have a good one your odds of winning a championship are not good. Baker Mayfield just completed Year 4 with the Cleveland Browns and yet there are still many that are not sold on the quarterback.

Mayfield has shown things that other quarterbacks in the past have failed to do. Mayfield has also shown some of the same old traits and habits showed by the bad quarterbacks of the past.

He had several injuries that plagued his 2021 campaign including a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder that clearly affected his play. There were also some old, and bad, habits that seemed to return after the really strong finish he had to his 2020 season which included a playoff win over the Steelers.

All of these things need to be considered, including injuries on his offensive line, when you are doing a proper evaluation of Baker Mayfield and who you think he is as a player.

There are several times this year that Baker Mayfield showed glimpses of the player we thought he was becoming last year. There were also plenty of moments that left us shaking our heads and asking if he was the guy. Let’s take a look at three of the biggest reasons he could be the guy as well as a look at three of the biggest reasons the Browns need to potentially be looking for his replacement.
