2022 NFL Combine Breakout Player No. 2 – Devonte Wyatt, Defensive Tackle

It’s hard to think that a defensive tackle like Devonte Wyatt is actually the second most talked about player at his position for Georgia. While Jordan Davis steals a lot of the praise, Wyatt is quietly an extremely talented guy that could easily find himself going in the first round of the 2022 draft.

The biggest knock of Davis is going to be his ability to stay on the field. He’s so large, that he needs a lot of breaks. Wyatt is also a monster at 6-foot-3, 307 pounds, but he has a lot more durability and can be a three-down player in the NFL.

If he can put together a strong combine showing his strength, quickness, and speed is what we see on film, he will have a great chance of locking in a first-round grade. He has the explosiveness but does need to work on pass-rushing skills as well as taking on double teams.

The Cleveland Browns have some young talent at defensive tackle, but I don’t think Berry is satisfied at the position. It was a glaring weakness in 2021, and with so much talent on the edge, the pass rush would really benefit from an elite defensive tackle.

There are a few veterans in free agency that could be potential, but I think Berry will address this position in the draft. I don’t think the Browns want to take a defensive tackle in round one, but they could look to trade up to fill a huge void after going receiver at No. 13.
