2022 NFL Combine Breakout Player No. 1 – Malik Willis, Quarterback

In a quarterback class that appears to be extremely weak, Liberty standout, Malik Willis has started to climb the boards. Willis is a tremendous athlete with a strong arm but has not played a ton of top-tier competition.

He doesn’t have near the cannon as a guy like Josh Allen, but some traits are similar. There are fears that he doesn’t see the field well and has poor timing. We also haven’t seen much film of him playing against elite college defenses, let alone NFL squads.

The real question. Would the Cleveland Browns be willing to draft Willis at No. 13 if he was available? If he has a great combine and throws the ball really well, I’m not sure he falls to them. If he has a good combine, there is a chance they may be able to get their hands on him.

Drafting a quarterback would certainly create some drama with Baker Mayfield in the fifth year of his rookie deal, but some competition may be exactly what he needs. This Kevin Stefanski offense is quarterback-friendly, and a rookie could do really well.

Remember, the Browns have a strong run game, a good offensive line, and will be looking to upgrade at wide receiver. I’m not hoping the Browns draft a quarterback, but if Willis tears up the combine and is available at pick No. 13, they must seriously consider it.
