The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at David Njoku and the report that he could be getting paid — big time

David Njoku could be staying with the Cleveland Browns for a long time.

Back in 2020, he was ready to leave after they brought in Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant but now in 2022, he could be on the verge of a huge payday with the Browns.

Reports have come out that his representatives have been talking with the front office and both sides want to get a deal done. For Njoku, it would mean a contract averaging north of $10 million per season. But for Austin Hooper, that could open up a whole new can of worms because they may not be willing to have two tight ends in that price range.

A look at Njoku’s possible extension and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Jarvis Landry can restructure to stay with the Browns; Baker Mayfield ahead of schedule: Browns Insider — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“The Browns definitely want him back, and are prepared to pay him the double-digit millions he’ll get on the open market. They’ve been talking to his agents for months, and are poised to try to get a deal done before or during the legal tampering period March 14-16.”"

Cabot says paying Njoku this much would make him the No. 1 tight end which could “shake things up a bit.” Considering how well Njoku has played in comparison to Hooper, this wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Browns’ Myles Garrett Says Baker Mayfield Is ‘My Quarterback’ — Mike Chiari, Bleacher Report

"Speaking to TMZ Sports, Garrett said: “I mean, he’s my quarterback. He’s my guy. He stuck by us, I’mma stick by him.”"

Some focused on what Garrett said after this when he was asked if he believed in Baker. Garrett’s response was “I believe in the Browns.”

Was it a perfect response, maybe not. But did he mean anything by it? Probably not. He wasn’t at a scheduled press conference and was asked a question on the fly. Rather than picking it all apart, let’s take it for what it was — a public display of support from one of the leaders in the locker room.
