Cleveland Browns combine player to watch No. 3 – Neil Farrell, Defensive Tackle, LSU

With all the question marks at wide receiver, there are very few doubts that the Cleveland Browns will draft anything other than a potential star wide receiver at pick No. 13. The draft is loaded, and in the last few years, we have seen a lot of young wide receivers produce early in their careers.

Another big hole that may be tough to fill via free agency is a defensive tackle. The Browns had two veterans and two young guys last year, and it just never seemed to click. Jordan Elliott and Tommy Togiai will be the likely starters next season, but someone with a big body will likely be brought in to help.

Neil Farrell of LSU could be that guy, at 6-foot-4, 338 pounds, Farrell knows how to clog up a hole.  Not only is Farrell a monster, but he also has elite strength and quickness (for his size). Farrell has shown to be an elite run stopper in the SEC and handles double teams as well as anyone.

Farrell looks to be a round-two guy, but the big struggle for the Browns will be using an early pick for a guy that can’t be on the field every play. He will be a running down specialist and will provide no help in passing situations.

The Browns really need a run-stuffer, so Farrell may make sense. A year in the league and getting his body right could have him poised for a long NFL career.
