Cleveland Browns attention-grabbing wide receiver No. 5: Isaiah Weston

If you are unaware of the name Isaiah Weston, don’t worry you are not alone. Outside of Northern Iowa Panther fans, Weston is anything but a household name. But that is the beauty of the NFL combine. Not all players are afforded the same platform in college, but for a few days in Indianapolis, everyone is on the same playing field.

Weston made the most of his time at the combine. The 6-foot-4, 214lb receiver made people take note when it came testing time. The redshirt-senior turned in a 4.42-second 40-yard dash, a 135-inch broad jump, and showed off his hops with a 40-inch vertical leap. That is a lot of boxes to check for a virtually unknown player.

The size and athleticism are undeniable, but just due to the sheer depth of the wide receiver position in this year’s draft, Weston is most likely going to still be sitting on the board deep into day three. If the Browns are stockpiling wide receivers to retool the room, Weston would be an intriguing prospect to take a flyer on.

Depending on how their draft shakes out and how many wide receivers they have selected, if Weston is still on the board when the Browns reach their final pick…he would look really good in brown and orange.

A lot of things can change between now and the NFL Draft. But one thing is for certain, if you were going to have to rebuild a wide receiver room, this is the draft to do so.
