Cleveland Browns Second Wave Free Agent target No. 2 – Christian Kirk, Wide Receiver

Many expect the Cleveland Browns to draft a receiver with pick No. 13. With the release of Jarvis Landry seeming inevitable, this team needs help at the position. Some believe the organization will have interest in big names like Mike Williams or Chris Godwin, but I don’t see Berry willing to spend that much.

Remember, it will likely cost $30 million to keep Clowney and Nojoku which isn’t a guarantee. I would expect the Browns to draft a receiver early, and then sign a second-wave guy like Christian Kirk who has some potential but hasn’t flourished yet in the NFL.

Kirk was a second-round pick in 2018 by the Arizona Cardinals, and he did have his best season in 2021 with 982 yards and five touchdowns, but I still don’t think many view him as a true number one receiver.

Kirk is a burner, the guy that can get deep and really stretch a defense. And while the Browns do need that, you just have to know what you are getting with a guy. Kirk doesn’t have the strongest hands, and he isn’t an elite route runner.

These are things that a player can still improve, he is still only in his fifth year of the NFL and is only 25-years old. Kirk would come at a fair price tag and would likely be looking for a short-term deal to try and prove himself as a true number one guy.

My only fear with the wide receiver position is, why would guys want to come here? This organization hasn’t had much such success, and you can’t tell me the league has already forgotten about the Odell Beckham debacle just last season.
