Cleveland Browns targeted player No. 3: LB Christian Harris, Alabama

The Browns linebacking crew has never been the strong suit of the team, but it has improved, especially when the team drafted Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah a year ago in the second round out of Notre Dame. It’s still an area that needs to get better, especially in the speed department and Christian Harris could certainly bring the speed. He ran the 40-yard dash in a blistering 4.44 seconds, his vertical was 34.5 inches, and his broad jump was 11 feet this past week at the Combine.

He’s considered a very physical inside linebacker that could certainly help out against the other teams’ run games where the Browns struggled at times last season. He started three seasons at Alabama so that experience playing on a powerhouse program can’t hurt when considering plugging him in on the Browns.

Harris stands 6-2 as well and has had a good knack for dropping back in pass coverage as well. He totaled 10 quarterback sacks in the last two seasons with the Crimson Tide and forced two fumbles in this last season. He also tallied 26 tackles in his three seasons for losses against his opponents.

The prospect of adding a player of Harris’s abilities to play along with Owusu-Koramoah in the middle of that Browns defense next season has this writer salivating at the thought. The speed that we saw on a weekly basis by Koramoah last season and adding another player of Harris’s caliber could really solidify a Cleveland defense.
