There are a ton of great options at wide receiver which allows the Cleveland Browns to go in a completely different direction in this 7-round mock draft

A couple of things became more clear during the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. One, the Cleveland Browns might lose Jadeveon Clowney to a bidding war. And two, the wide receiver class in the 2022 NFL Draft might be even deeper than expected.

One wideout after another turned in a great workout and 40-yard dash and with the news that Clowney could be looking to cash in, that could lead to a change in philosophy for the Browns.

That’s what happens here as they take a defender with their first pick at No. 13 and hope to land a solid wideout with their pick in Round 2. Let’s see how it unfolds in our latest 2022 Browns mock draft.

Cleveland Browns Round 1 Pick: George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue

Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis stood in at 6-foot-4 and 266-pounds this weekend and while he didn’t run the 40-yard dash, he still looked smooth in many of the drills and cemented himself as a top-15 pick.

However, there have been some other defensive ends — including David Ojabo — who have entered the conversation at the position which could mean Karlaftis might last until the Browns are on the clock at No. 13.

If that does happen — and if they do indeed lose Jadeveon Clowney — it could make a lot of sense to pick up the edge rusher here. That’s what happens in this mock as they bring in the pro-ready defensive lineman while hoping a starting-caliber wideout lasts until their next pick.
