Cleveland Browns move to make the Super Bowl No. 3 – Build depth in the draft

When you get to have a roster like the Cleveland Browns, the draft becomes all the more important. With so much talent already, you can’t afford to just pay all these guys and keep the roster intact. You must constantly draft young talent and let go of guys a year early vs. a year too late.

The Browns need to find a way to come away with starting-caliber guys in the first two rounds of the 2022 draft. This class is loaded, and that should not be a problem. The two biggest holes on this roster right now are likely the defensive line and wide receiver.

But after that is where things get extremely important. Yes, it would be amazing to draft a guy in round six who can start 16 games for you in 2022, but it’s more important that you get at least four guys who can be developed over time, and become great NFL players.

The Browns will be looking for a young offensive lineman, a tight end, and likely a safety that won’t be forced to play in 2022 but will likely have a great opportunity to earn playing time as early as the 2023 season.

Finding guys like this who can produce on special teams as a rookie is just as important as drafting a star player in the first two rounds.
