Cleveland Browns 2022 Quarterback Option No. 1 – Kirk Cousins

Perhaps the best fit for the Cleveland Browns in 2022 would be Kirk Cousins, who also has a past relationship with Kevin Stefanski. Again, Cousins is not a guy that you would consider top five or even top-10 in the league, but he has a ton of experience and fits the system perfectly.

Cousins has a 59-59-2 overall record in the NFL, but remember, some of those Washington teams that he was a part of were not good. He started his career 2-7 with limited playing time the first three seasons he was in the league.

People will also argue that Cousins isn’t an upgrade, but he also has six seasons of throwing for 4,000 plus yards and has a career completion percentage just under 67. He has the mobility to bootleg out of the pocket, and the touch and accuracy that Baker Mayfield seems to lack at times.

Cousins also has a major contract issue with a $45 million cap hit in 2022 but would also make the Vikings a good trade partner. Cousins is easily the better player but losing his contract would be a major win for the Vikings.

With Carr, you would likely want to see some history before signing, but I think the Browns would be far more comfortable with a big contract now for cousins. If the Browns can get him for $35 a year and keep him for the next three seasons, Cleveland would remain extremely competitive.
