A few days after the Cleveland Browns acquired Deshaun Watson they are reportedly interested in another big trade for a star edge rusher.

According to reports general manager Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns may not be done adding players via trade. The Browns believe they have found their franchise quarterback after trading for Deshaun Watson of the Texans but the roster is far from complete.

One of the biggest holes that remain is at the starting edge spot opposite Myles Garrett.

Daniel Hunter of the Vikings is reportedly on the trade block and it sounds like the Browns are interested in adding him. Now Hunter has a lofty price tag that comes with him as well as having to trade for him. But the idea of Hunter lining up opposite Garrett is interesting, last season Hunter had 6 sacks but the previous two he had 14.5 apiece.

Danielle Hunter could fill Browns need on the edge — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“Danielle Hunter is a player that could step in as the team’s other starting defensive end if Jadeveon Clowney doesn’t return. The Minnesota Vikings have some salary cap needs and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has familiarity with Andrew Berry having just left Cleveland’s front office.”"

Though some, myself included, may prefer Clowney to return it doesn’t mean that Hunter wouldn’t do a good job as well. He had the injury that hampered his 2021 campaign but joining Garrett in Cleveland, taking pressure off him, may get him back to form.

Official NFL transaction wire shows Browns giving up extra ’22 pick in Deshaun Watson trade — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“Instead of only one pick in 2022, Andrew Berry ended up giving up two and received one round lower in 2024. Not the biggest difference but a high fourth-round pick could have been used for a contributor in 2022.Given the uniqueness of the trade, maybe it should be surprising that there was one more curveball thrown in at the end.”"

The Browns now giving up a second pick in 2022, a 4th rounder, doesn’t really change the overall scope of the trade but is odd to see it change after both teams announced it. Now that it is on the official wire I don’t think that it will change again but it seemed to be a perfect cap on a wild week for the Browns.
