Free-agent signings across the league have slowed down, but expect the Cleveland Browns to pick up the pace next week. Here are three targets to watch.

It’s been a strange week for fans of the Cleveland Browns. We are now a week into the Deshaun Watson era, with his official press conference on Friday. At this point, it’s hard to blame anyone who has an opinion on his past, but this organization is betting heavily on him.

The unknown is still what the suspension will be for the 2022 season. Some say nothing, some say up to a full season, and the majority believe it will be six games. With such a huge variance of opinion, it’s difficult to plan.

With the addition of Jacoby Brissett last week, it appears the organization believes they can win enough games with him at the helm to hang on for Watson’s return. Berry has been very tight-lipped on almost everything throughout his tenure, but that singing leads me to believe the organization knows there will be some sort of suspension.

The next concern is the Baker Mayfield contract. To this point, they haven’t been able to dissolve the $18 million cap hit and it appears his trade market will be limited. The Watson deal is structured so the Browns can eat the money if they are forced to release him, but that is the worst-case scenario.

This team has certainly gotten a lot better over the last week, but there is still plenty of work to do if they truly want to compete in the loaded AFC for a Super Bowl. Here are three guys that are still available in free agency and should be on the Browns radar.
