Cleveland Browns Remaining Free Agent Target No. 2 – Jabrill Peppers

The Cleveland Browns drafted Jabrill Peppers in 2017 with pick No. 25. And while he did struggle to adjust to the NFL game, the Browns got rid of him right as he was hitting his stride.

At the time when we got Odell Beckham, it didn’t seem like a big deal, but Peppers is the perfect fit for this system, and it would be great to get him back now.

After initially being too big to play safety and too small to play linebacker, Peppers really focused on his body and got into shape to be a very good NFL safety. Because he has such size and strength, I love bringing him back as the dime safety.

This would allow him to roam around the box and play a hybrid linebacker position, which is where he thrived while playing college ball at the University of Michigan.

Coming off an injury in 2021, Peppers should also be affordable. He had his best season in 2020, but the fact that he is still available tells me that his market very well could be falling out from under him.

It’s a tough sell to lure a third safety to the roster. They will likely get a ton of snaps in the dime scheme, but they also know they won’t be getting 100 percent of the defensive snaps.
