The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Jimmy Haslam denying a reported dig at Baker Mayfield

Before the Cleveland Browns landed Deshaun Watson, there was a rumor floating around about the front office taking a shot at Baker Mayfield. While some felt they were simply trying to go after an available elite quarterback, others said they were looking for an “adult” at the position.

This rumor made it seem impossible for the two sides to ever work together again, even if the Watson trade wasn’t revived — and ultimately completed.

However, now that Watson has officially joined the team, Jimmy Haslam took some time to speak to the media and said there was no such comment made from ownership.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Jimmy Haslam: Browns ownership didn’t say of Baker Mayfield that they needed an ‘adult’ at quarterback — Marla Ridenour Akron Beacon Journal

"“Contrary to what is out there in the press, we think highly of Baker and did not get down on him. I know there is [an anonymous Browns] statement that we needed ‘an adult in the room,’ and Baker felt that came from ownership, but that is not true.”"

Haslam added that Mayfield gave everything he had to this team and nobody can question the effort he gave. On top of that, he wished him nothing but the best as there should be no hard feelings from management toward Mayfield. He put it all on the line, they just happened to find a quarterback they thought gave them a better shot.

Jarvis Landry makes agent change — Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk

"“Free-agent receiver Jarvis Landry, cut earlier this month by the Browns, had yet to find a new team, one that satisfies his contractual expectations. Per NFLPA records, Landry now has a new agent.”"

Landry apparently wants a whole lot of money and he might think changing agents will help in this regard. He was a solid player for the Browns for his four seasons but the truth is, he’s not a No. 1 wideout in the NFL right now, and changing agents won’t change that.
