Reason No. 3 the Cleveland Browns are in win-now mode

Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry are assembling the team they want

The Cleveland Browns finally have a front office and head coach combination that is competent and very capable of assembling a roster that can compete for a Super Bowl for years to come.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski was hired on January 13, 2020, to be the next head coach of the Browns. In his first year as an NFL head coach, Stefanski was able to win the NFL Coach of the Year award, leading the Browns to an 11-5 record and also snapping an 18-year playoff drought. Cleveland was able to march into Pittsburgh and knock off the AFC North champion Steelers in the Wild Card round, despite Stefanski having to watch from his basement as he tested positive for COVID-19.

In his first two seasons, Stefanski has a record of 19-14, which is a tremendous turnaround from a few years ago when the team went 1-31 over a two-season span. Stefanski is a smart coach and seemingly the guy to further lead this team to where it thinks it should be.

Andrew Berry was hired exactly two weeks after Stefanski to be the Browns new general manager and vice president of football operations. This was a reunion for Berry and the Browns, as the former was the vice president of player personnel from 2016-to-2018. In the year he was not with the Browns in 2019, Berry was the vice president of football operations for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he learned a ton from general manager Howie Roseman.

Berry has shown that he is a salary cap wizard and has really put this team in a good position financially for years to come. He has also shown that he is a very calculated man and figures out the best way to build a roster by understanding what he sees on film and how to incorporate analytics into his research.

The Ivy League duo of Stefanski and Berry is seemingly the perfect fit for this franchise that is starving for relevancy by winning a Super Bowl. Remember, they inherited a roster that wasn’t fully theirs and now they have the opportunity to get the guys they want and think can help this franchise become a winner.
