Free Agent Cleveland Browns should avoid No. 1: Eddie Goldman, defensive tackle, Chicago Bears

At first glance, Eddie Goldman seems like just the player the Browns need at nose tackle, 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds. During his career, he has been a pretty good run stopper and does enough in the passing game, but production and play have fallen off lately for Goldman.

In 14 games in 2021, Goldman had half a sack and just one tackle for loss, both in the passing game and the running game he wasn’t much of a factor. Goldman also had a missed tackle percentage of 15.4% last season, a year that lead to the Bears releasing Goldman.

Some have suggested that an injury might have lingered and affected his play but that may be a big risk to hope he bounces back in 2022. Goldman wasn’t much of a factor for the Bears, the Browns are in need of players that can start and make impacts on the defensive line next to Myles Garrett.

The Browns should look for a veteran defensive tackle to bring in because the draft doesn’t have many great prospects at the position.

Eddie Goldman may be a player to consider after other options are exhausted, but likely the Browns should look elsewhere to fill this roster hole.
