Cleveland Browns mock draft: Strengthening all 3 units
By Jacob Roach
Cleveland Browns pick number 223- Cameron Dicker, kicker, Texas
The Browns seemed to have solved the question of punter after signing former Packers punter Corey Bojorquez, now it’s time to get a kicker. Cameron Dicker may be the perfect match for the Cleveland Browns and is a guy with an enormous leg for field goals and kickoffs to pin teams deep.
Dicker had a career long at Texas of 57 yards, a strong leg is needed in Cleveland once those Lake Erie winds are whipping. Last season Dicker made 49 of his 50 extra point attempts, the Browns badly need that level of consistency. Adding Bojorquez and drafting Dicker would be a massive improvement over last years special teams units.
Cleveland Browns pick number 246- Chris Steele, cornerback, USC
Late in round seven of the draft, you are just looking for athletes that may have a chance to develop into a contributor. That is exactly what you will get with Chris Steele from USC, a great athlete that needs to be coached up and developed. In the modern NFL passing attack rules, you can never have enough athletic corners on your team to counter.
Steele’s level of an athlete could have an immediate impact on special teams as the Browns figure out a role for him.
This late in the draft you are just taking chances on athletes and Chris Steele has the athletic profile worth gambling on.
