Reason Cleveland Browns have been Sidelined No. 3 – Seeing how the draft falls

One reason I see Andrew Berry on the sideline is he wants to see exactly how the draft falls. The two biggest needs on the roster currently are defensive line and wide receiver.

While I do think a deal with Jadeveon Clowney or some veteran pass rusher will get done, wide receiver and defensive tackle are both positions that can be addressed via the draft, and a starting quality player could be available at pick No. 44.

I believe Berry would prefer to fill a starting-caliber wide receiver in round two, but if they board thins out on him, he certainly should have an option at a run-stuffing interior defensive lineman.

The options for a starting-caliber defensive tackle in free agency vs. a solid second wide receiver could be as much as $7-8 million per year. Everyone is expecting a deal with Will Fuller to be finalized, but my guess is his asking price is still too high.

Quarterbacks, offensive tackles, and pass rushers always seem to be a top priority in round one.  Berry and the Cleveland Browns will be rooting for that to continue so they can have some great options at pick no. 44.

Remember, Berry has a history of finding first-round talents early in round two, let’s hope that tradition continues in 2022.
